Kingpin of drugs racket bbed

Guwahati, July 9: Md Ilahi Sheikh, a most wanted kingpin of the illegal drugs racket thriving in Upper Assam and Aruchal Pradesh was caught last evening by Dibrugarh police from a hideout at Lekhapani in Tinsukia district. 60-year-old Sheikh is a resident of Kalibari in Dibrugarh. Acting on his confessions, police seized 18 gms of brown sugar, one illegal factory made 7.65 calibre pistol with magazine, five rounds of live 7.65 calibre ammunition, a Russia-made night vision device and other materials from his house at Kalibari. His accomplice and wife Asu Begum is absconding. Sheikh was arrested twice before, but every time he came out he went back to his old ways.
