KNLA chief among six militants held

Guwahati, June 24: Chingthong Singr, the self-styled chairman of the Karbi tiol Liberation Army was apprehended from Moikro village in Chowkihola by a joint team of police and army on Tuesday.

Following specific inputs regarding presence of some KNLA cadres in the village, security forces established multiple ambushes on all incoming routes to the village.

The KNLA chairman was apprehended in the evening.

One 7.65mm pistol, three 7.65mm pistol magazines, a hand grede, mobile phones and incrimiting documents, including demand notes, were recovered from the rebel leader.

In another operation, a joint team of army, police and COBRA launched a joint operation at Karigaon in Kokrajhar district today in which three Muslim Tigers Force of Assam militants were apprehended. The individuals were identified as Shahidul Hosen, Akash Ali and zirul Islam. Two pistols were seized from them. Two hardcore ULFA (I) militants were also apprehended from Hathibandhia village of Sonitpur district by a joint team of police and army yesterday. They have been identified as Babul Das and Mohan Bora. One AK-56 rifle, two hand gredes and some ammunition were recovered from the terrorists.
