Korean envoy calls on CM

Guwahati, June 29: The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea Hyun Cho called on Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal in Assam Secretariat on Wednesday and discussed a wide spectrum of areas such as economy, culture, tourism, tea, food processing etc.

Chief Minister Sonowal apprised the Korean Ambassador Hyun Cho of Assam's prolific tea gardens and the role of tea in the State's economy. He also spoke on the immense tourism potential in the State and the Prime Minister rendra Modi's commitment of transforming the North East to 'organic hub of Asia'. He also requested the Korean Ambassador to invest in State's organic sector to help the State Government's efforts in making Assam a 'green and ecologically friendly' State.

Sonowal also stressed on 'youth exchange' programmes between Assam and the Republic of Korea and requested the Ambassador for encouraging frequent youth exchange programmes between Assam and the Republic of Korea.

Hyun Cho also expressed Korea's interest in investing in Assam and invited Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal to Korea to which the Chief Minister agreed in principle and acknowledged the Ambassador's gesture of visiting the State.
