Lapang’s resignation a big blow to Congress: Nalin Kohli

SHILLONG, Sept 15: BJP spokesperson and in-charge Meghalaya Nalin Kohli on Saturday said that the resignation of senior Congress leader Dr DD Lapang is a big blow to the Congress.

“No question about it; he is one of those founding members. I think it would also be something the Congress party must be realizing itself that he is parting ways after such a long journey which is a blow,” Kohli told media persons.

He also said that he has seen Lapang’s resignation letter in the media “which is written very elegantly reflecting his point of view.”

“It would be something the Congress party would need to explain with regard to why he has left the party or he himself would be able to say so but certainly given his stature it would be loss to the party in Meghalaya,” he added.

When asked if he would join the BJP, Kohli said that in his resignation letter he has stated that he wishes to serve the people of the State but with regard to him expressing his wish to join the BJP, Kohli said that he haven’t met him nor got any message but “for a gentleman of his stature the party wishes him well”.
