Lok Sabha Election: Campaign For Phase-III To End Today

GUWAHATI: All heavyweights are on the campaign trail in constituencies in the State where the third phase of the Lok Sabha is slated for April 23. The campaign, which is set to conclude at 5 pm on Sunday, is at its feverish pitch now.

AIUDF’s Dhubri candidate Badruddin Ajmal, AIUDF’s Barpeta candidate Rafiqul Islam, AGP’s Dhubri candidate Zaved Islam, AGP’s Barpeta candidate Kumar Deepak Das, Congress’ Barpeta candidate Abdul Khaleque, BJP’s Gauhati candidate Queen Oja, Congress’ Gauhati candidate Bobbeeta Sharmah and others are on the campaign trail, holdings rallies and road shows seeking votes.

NEDA convener Himanta Biswa Sarma held many rallies and road shows on Saturday in Guwahati, Kokrajhar and Barpeta. At a rally at Kumarikata in Kokrajhar parliamentary constituency on Saturday, Sarma said: “The Congress only sheds crocodile tears for the minorities, but does precious little for them. In the past five years under the rule of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the minority people became more secured that ever before.”

At another rally at Bhabanipur under Barpeta Parliamentary constituency, Sarma said: “The BJP won’t ever go for any alliance with Badruddin Ajmal. Khargeswar Talukdar, the first martyr of the Assam Agitation, was killed at Bhabanipur. In the 2021 Assembly election in the State, this seat will be wrested either by the BJP or the AGP.”

Currently, the Bhabanipur LAC is held by the AIUDF.

This evening Sarma also held a road show in Guwahati seeking votes for party candidate Queen Oja.
