Mahanta slams government

GUWAHATI, March 1: AGP MLA and former Assam chief minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta on Sunday said that the Central government’s decision to convert the tiol Highways Authority of India into the tiol Highways Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited would make many officials, staff, employees from the highway sector in the State jobless. Mahanta demanded that the Corporation should spent 10 per cent of its total allocation or project cost in the region. He also said that problems had arisen in the construction of the Trans Aruchal Highways (NH-52B) in the Assam sector due to non-allotment of land by the State government which stated that the process of land allotment had been hampered due to protests by the KMSS and few other groups.
