Minister frowns, ASEB officer arrested!

GAON, Dec 15: An ASEB officer who successfully detected more than 50 electricity theft cases and recovered Rs 30,000,00 as government revenue through pelty, was arrested by gaon police on Tuesday due to a message allegedly uploaded on WhatsApp.

According to the sources, Pinku Dekaraja, SDO, gaon Division of ASEB, who successfully detected more than 50 cases of electricity theft through meter tampering and in which two commercial institutes of close relatives of the State Power Minister were also said to be involved, spread a message through social media WhatsApp.

But soon after the message was posted, Mril Hazarika, former president of NSUI and alleged close associate of the minister concerned, lodged an FIR in gaon Sadar police station on Monday and the police on the basis of that FIR arrested Dekaraja on Tuesday.

Soon after his arrest, gaon Sadar police had to release him at 1 pm due to uvoidable situation that was created by the employees and other officers of ASEB of entire gaon district. According to the ASEB employees, SDO, Dekaraja has been made a victim of political conspiracy.
