Ministry expansion likely

Guwahati, April 20: After long speculation, there is now a possibility of expansion of the Assam Cabinet. Following a meeting of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and BJP president Amit Shah in New Delhi on Friday afternoon, when reporters asked Sarma about the possibility of ministry expansion in the State, he said, “Within one or two days, the news will come.”

There are eight vacancies in the State Cabinet as of now. The Sarbananda Sonowal government will complete two years of office on May 24.

The issue of the controversial Citizenship (Amendment) Bill also figured at the meeting.
