GUWAHATI, January 30: The 163 answer scripts of TDC third semester that went missing from the custody of the evaluator who had taken them home were today found from a tea stall.

But the education department students of the TDC third semester under Gauhati University will have to wait a little more before heaving a sign of relief. It is still not known whether all the answer scripts are intact and untouched.

The answer scripts were found in a small hotel in the city’s Bhutth area on Friday. Sources said the owner of the stall had purchased a ‘bundle of papers’ weighing around eight and half kg from a hawker few days ago. He did not realize that the bundle consists of the answer scripts.

On Thursday evening, a customer of the hotel detected the scattered answer scripts on the floor of the stall and realising the gravity of the issue contacted the Principal of Arya Vidyapeeth College on Friday, who later collected the scripts from the hotel.

When Dhrubajyoti Chowdhury, Controller of Examition, Gauhati University was asked about the recovery of the answer scripts, he said, “A strict action will be taken against the person concerned. We have called a meeting on February 6 to find out ways and means to compensate the loss suffered by the students. The fil decision will be taken after the February 6 meeting.”

The answer scripts had gone missing after a senior professor of Arya Vidyapeeth College took the scripts home for evaluation.

The erring professor, Dr Karabi Kar, was on Thursday placed under suspension by the Directorate of Higher Education, amidst an uncertainty over the fate of the 163 students.

College Principal Saibal Sengupta said the incident took place on January 24.
