GUWAHATI, Aug 10: A few ministers, MPs, MLAs, top bureaucrats and other employees are up for night outs to stay the Saturday night (August 11) in PMAY-G (Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin) houses in the State for a noble cause – to keep in direct touch with people to know their problems and find their remedies. The Central scheme is being implemented by the P & RD (Panchayat and Rural Development) Department in the State.

On Saturday, each of the beneficiaries of 10,000 PMAY-Gramin houses in the State will have a guest in the form of a minister, an MLA, an MP, a top bureaucrat or an employee to stay the night and interact with him/her. The sole purpose of such a night-out mission is to know the problems of the PMAY-Gramin house beneficiaries – if they faced any problem while erecting the houses or if they have any other problems afflicting them. People’s representatives and other officers will have to note the problems of PMAY beneficiaries and present them is a systematic manner before the government and find their remedies.

State Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Naba Kumar Doley, a few other ministers, P&RD Principal Secretary Dr. JB Ekka and P&RD Commissioner Dr. P Ashok Babu have also packed up for their night outs in PMAY houses.

So far, 2,59,779 houses under PMAY-Gramin have been sanctioned and 46,230 of them have been already been erected in the State. Each of such houses costs Rs 1.30 lakh.

This apart, as many as 7,000 PMAY and MGNREGA schemes are going to be inaugurated on August 13, 2018 in the State.
