Model found dead, police hunt for 'paramour'

Guwahati, Aug 26: Sweety Baruah, the model of the NRC advertisement fame, was found dead at her apartment at Bora Service area in the city on Wednesday morning.

Sweety, a mother of an eight-year-old boy, was reportedly strangulated, police said.

Sweety's son and husband - Dhrubajyoti Saikia - stays in Golaghat.

She used to stay at the city apartment with her sisters.

Sources said she had come in touch with a man from Hajo about six months back.

The man - identified as Neil Nibaran Baruah - was often seen with Sweety.

However, Sweety's sister, who pointed the accusing finger to Neil, said, "He was after my sister. He was a psychopath. He had proposed my sister, but my sister had rejected it. Neil used to sometimes cut his wrist…bang his head against the wall."

"Even last night, Neil came to the apartment. The security men told me that he went out at 2 am," Sweety's sister said.

The accused, Neil, had claimed to be a Railway Police Force personnel.

Paltan Bazar police have registered a case and are investigating it.
