Modi and Shah to me State BJP chief: Sarma

GUWAHATI, April 25: BJP MP from Tezpur RP Sarma has said that the issue of new president of the party in Assam has not been discussed as yet. He has also made it clear that the party high command will me the new Assam BJP president likely by June this year.

Talking to this reporter over telephone today, the MP said: “Since the party respects the one-man-one-post policy, the post of party president in Assam will be vacant when Sarbanda Sonowal becomes the Chief Minister of the State. In such a situation, Prime Minister rendra Modi and party’s tiol president Amit Shah will me the president likely by June this year. Theirs will be the last word on this issue.”      

When asked on the possibility of the BJP forming the government at Dispur, a confident Sarma said: “The BJP and alliance will form the government at Dispur since the voters have voted for a change.”

When asked as to why some BJP leaders are reportedly holding parleys with the AIUDF for forming the government at Dispur, Sarma reaffirmed, and said: “No BJP leader is holding any parley with the AIUDF that have to remain contended with eight or less seats this time around.”
