Boko, Sept 10: A CJM court has rejected the bail application of AIUDF legislator Gopith Das, accused of molesting his domestic help.

Police, who searched his residences again in the wee hours today, said Das was still missing.

However, it is learnt that Das has filed an anticipatory bail plea at the Gauhati High Court.

"Today we searched his residences, including the MLA Hostel quarter and his residences at Guwahati and garbera, but we could not locate him. We have seized the vehicle in which the alleged incident took place," said a police official.

Meanwhile, hundreds of protestors today took to the streets again, demanding arrest of Das.

The protestors blocked the tiol highway here for several hours in protest against the incident.

The domestic help - a minor girl - and her family had lodged a complaint against Das on Sunday night, alleging she was molested by Das in his vehicle a few days back. The legislator allegedly committed the crime while returning from his home town garbera to Guwahati.

A case against Das was registered under section 343 of the Indian Pel Code and section 4 and 8 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.

Das had denied the charge claiming that it was an attempt to mar his political career ahead of assembly elections early next year.
