Mother who didn't want girl child kills baby

GOLAGHAT, May 20: In a shocking incident, a thirteen-day-old female baby was allegedly killed by her mother and grandmother who did not want a girl child. The incident which took place at Bengekhowa in Golaghat sparked a sensation in the area.  The father of the baby, Arindam Bora, filled a case at Golaghat police station against his wife Bonda Das and mother in-law Renu Das for brutally killing his new born. Arindam Bora, a government employee of Golaghat Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital, said his wife and mother in-law did not want a girl child. "The infant was brutally choked to death on Thursday night by her mother and grandmother," he said. Golaghat police said the accused mother and grandmother have been absconding.
