Muslim organizations flay Ajmal, call for boycott

By Our Staff Reporter

Guwahati, Jan 24: Eight indigenous Muslim organizations in the State today announced boycott of AIUDF president Badruddin Ajmal, describing him as a threat. Ajmal has been under fire for his comment that all Muslims in Assam should come together to fight for their existence as Hindu votes have been polarised after Prime Minister rendra Modi's visit to the State.

"He is commul by birth. We have to boycott him. He cannot be allowed to form the government," Rahamsa Ali, president of the Asomiya Muslim Kalyan Parishad, said at a joint press conference.

Sodou Asom Goriya Yuva Parishad president Abdul Hamid said his organization had warned in 2005 - when the AIUDF was born - that the political outfit will ring the death knell for indigenous Muslims.

"Ajmal and All Assam Minority Students Union (AAMSU) have never done anything constructive for the indigenous Muslims," Hamid said.

Sodou Asom Goriya Moriya Desi Jatiya Parishad president Hafizul Ahmed said the Assamese society is not built on commul lines, which Ajmal is now trying to divide.

Waqf Board chairman Nekibur Zaman was also present at the joint press conference.
