NDFB(S) hideout busted, two rebels killed

Guwahati/KOKRAJHAR, May 8: A major hideout of NDFB(S) was busted in the thick jungles of Chirang Reserve forest in Kokrajhar district on Friday.

Acting on a specific input from the Intelligence Bureau, security forces launched a search operation in the jungle, around three km from Ultapani village. During the operation, an encounter took place with NDFB(S) ultras in which one unidentified militant was killed. It is suspected that some top leaders of NDFB(S) involved in the December 23 massacre were in the group.

The operation is continuing. Security forces have recovered a factory-made 7.65 mm pistol, a country-made rifle, 200 rounds of AK-47, 14 gredes, 150 kgs of ration, large number of blankets and other warlike stores from the hideout.

Meanwhile, based on inputs provided by Gajraj Military Intelligence, a top GNLA commander identified as lieutent Sanjay alias Gobat was shot dead at Chidareth village under Mendipathar police station of North Garo Hills district of Meghalaya.

A 7.62mm pistol and a large quantity of ammunition were recovered from the dead militant.

In another joint operation, an NDFB(S) militant - Bisonjit Mushahary alias Tarzan (21) - was bbed at Hiren Dhaba in Chhaygaon when he was en route to Goalpara.
