New cadre for revenue services

Guwahati, July 6: Assam government has created a dedicated cadre for land and revenue services in the State. This set of officers will replace the ACS officers at the revenue circle offices.

A notification to this effect has been issued following a recent cabinet decision.

There will be 257 posts under the newly created Assam Land and Revenue Services.

The service will consist of three cadres - 'selection grade' which will include the cadre of Additiol Director Land Records, Additiol Director Land Reforms, Additiol Director Survey, Senior Research Officer and Principal of the Survey and Settlement Training Centre, 'senior grade' which will include the cadre of senior circle officer and 'junior grade' which will include the cadre of circle officer. There will be 154 posts in the 'junior grade', 70 in the 'senior grade' and five in the 'selection grade'.

Meanwhile, the Assam Public Service Commission has today published advertisements announcing recruitment of 60 officers under the new cadre. The selection will be done through competitive examitions.

The government will induct the officers in a phase-manner. With the creation of the new cadre, the sanctioned strength of ACS officers in the State will come down.
