GUWAHATI, July 8: Assam's newest political party -Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) - is set to be launched in Guwahati on Friday in Guwahati Press Club.

Disclosing this, a party spokesperson said that this was the fruition of a three-month process of organizatiol incubation. As per the Election Commission (EC) guidelines, over 100 people met in Guwahati on March 29, 2015 at ITA Machkhowa and formally proposed to launch the party. They also adopted the party constitution and elected Prodyut Bora as its founder president with a mandate to formally launch the party in the next three months. Bora had quit the BJP.

The last three months have been a process of quiet organizatiol development, with LDP taking a conscious decision to stay away from the media during this period. Now at the end of this period, LDP is readying for a public launch. "In this three-month period, the LDP has created three organizatiol units: a Gramin Morcha headed by Absar Hazarika, a Mahila Morcha headed by Snigdha Sangma; and a Yuva Morcha headed by Aslam Khan. The Party has also initiated work in two districts: Guwahati City District with Rupen Chowdhury as president and South Kamrup District with Dhrubajyoti Das as president," the spokesperson said. According to Prodyut Bora, immediately after launch the party would move to election mode. He feels that the people of Assam are tired of corruption of the Congress and the hoaxes played by the BJP, and are looking for a genuine political altertive.
