NIA files chargesheet, several top NDFB(S) leaders med

GUWAHATI, July 15: The tiol Investigation Agency (NIA) today filed two chargesheets in connection with the Baksa massacre in May last year, carried out by the NDFB (S) on religious minority people.

The chargesheets were filed against NIA case number RC-01/2014/NIA-GUW and RC-02/2014/NIA-GUW related to the shootout at rsingbari village and Khagrabari village of Baksa district. In the two incidents, 39 people lost their lives including women and children and many others were left injured.

In its first chargesheet today, the NIA has med ‘commanding officer’ of NDFB (S) 13th battalion, Bikush rzary alias N Birlangbai alias Lengra and his ‘deputy’, Swmkwr Basumatary alias B SImang as accused for the rsingbari shootout.

On the other hand, in a supplementary chargesheet, the NIA has med six top leaders of the outfit as accused in the Khagrabari massacre that took place on May 2 last year. They include Enon Basumatary alias B Erkhang, Rahul Islary alias I Rwmwilu, Jaleswar Basumatary alias B Jakhrub, Surjoy Goyary alias G Sujulang, An Brahma alias B Aorai and gen Boro alias B Tharun.

It can be mentioned here that, the Agency filed a chargesheet in connection to the Khagrabari incident on  October 31 last year against four accused mely Rajen Boro, Jayanta Boro, Nijwm Basumatary and Mallajit Kherkatary. The trial against these four accused in under way in the Special NIA Court in Guwahati.
