NIA teams in Kokrajhar, Sonitpur

Guwahati, January 1: Four teams of the tiol Investigation Agency (NIA) are in the State to probe the NDFB(S) massacres that left 80 people dead in the State on December 23 last. Official sources said the teams have already reached Kokrajhar and Sonitpur. The agency has so far registered four cases – two of Kokrajhar and one each of Biswath Chariali and Dhekiajuli. NIA IG GP Singh, who will supervise the investigations, is also in the State. The NIA officials have yesterday held a meeting with the State Chief Secretary Jitesh Khosla and DGP Khagen Sarma. “Two teams have gone to Kokrajhar and two are in Sonitpur. They are holding the prelimiry discussions with the district officials. The process of investigation has started officially,” an NIA official said. More NIA personnel will join the investigation teams.
