Nine rhino poachers arrested

BOKAKHAT/Dhekiajuli, June 3: Bokakhat police arrested four poachers from Rajabari-Khotiakholi road on Tuesday. The poachers have been identified as Bubul Gogoi of Khotiakholi, Jayanta Pegu and Abish Morang of Kareng Chapori under Pulibor police station and Hiralal Malla of Chohola Chapori. Police recovered one .303 rifle with two rounds of ammunition from them. On the other hand, the two poachers out of six who had fled after killing a rhino and removing its horn from Kaziranga Gosanibor near Tinichuki Forest Camp on April 9, have also been arrested. Meanwhile, Sonitpur police also apprehended three rhino poachers identified as Amit Hasda (27), Debajyoti Deka (26) and Ainul Haque (26) last night at Ghatua under Thelamara Police Station. A rhino horn weighing 800 gms, a hand-made pistol and other lethal weapons were seized from them.
