GUWAHATI, February 6: At least nine security personnel were wounded in an ambush by militants in Aruchal Pradesh’s Changlang district today. Unconfirmed sources said some of the injured personnel are feared to have succumbed to their injuries. However, army officials refused to confirm it. Defence spokesman Lt Col Suneet Newton said an IED attack took place on a team of 14 Assam Rifles which was on a foot patrol at Mongo, close to the Myanmar border. The NSCN and the ULFA are known to have footprints in those areas. The ambush took place between 1 pm and 2 pm. The injured were evacuated from the area.
