No EPIC? EC to accept 11 other ID proofs

Guwahati, March 31: Citizens who have not yet got their electors photo identity cards (EPIC) need not worry. The Election Commission of India today notified a list of eleven documents which will be accepted by polling officials as identity proof of the voters. The documents approved by the election commission as identity proof are passport, driving license, service identity cards issued by Central and State departments, bank passbooks (with photographs), PAN cards, smart cards issued by RGI under NPR, MNREGA job cards, health insurance cards issued by the Labour Ministry, pension documents, authenticated photo voter slips issued by the election machinery and identity cards of MPs, MLAs and MLCs. Around 93.85 per cent of the State electorate has been issued voter identity cards. Some 7.52 lakh voters do not have the EPICs yet.
