Notice to Assam government

GUWAHATI, April 22: The Assam Human Rights Commission (AHRC) on Wednesday issued notice to the commissioner and secretary of the state home department over allegations of police atrocities on some college students. A division bench headed by AHRC chairman Justice (retd) Aftab H Saikia issued the orders after taking suo motu cognizance of a news item published in various newspapers on the incident and asked the home department to submit a report to the commission within 30 days.
