Notice to CS on Raha incident

Guwahati, July 21: Taking suo moto cognizance of news item published in the local dailies, a Division Bench of the Commission comprising Dr Justice AH Saikia, Chairperson and Tarun Phookan, Member issued notice to the Chief Secretary to the Government of Assam, regarding the police action taken on protesters at Raha on July 15, 2016, stated a press release. The order of the Commission dated 19.07.2016 in AHRC(Case) No. 1744/14/16-17 directed the Chief Secretary to institute an effective enquiry to be conducted into the said incident through a civil servant not below the rank of a Commission & Secretary to the Government of Assam and submit the report thereof  within 30 days of receipt of the notice.
