‘November 17 rally a drama out of nothing’,says Prabajan Virodhi Manch (PVM)

GUWAHATI: The Prabajan Virodhi Manch (PVM) has said the recent hue and cry in the State centering the ‘November 17, 2018 convention’ apparently called by a conglomerate of Bengali organizations at Khanapara in Guwahati was a drama made out of nothing with the plan for a conflict.

Talking to the media in Guwahati on Tuesday, PVM convener Upamanyu Hazarika said: “No Bengali organization has even applied to the authority of the College of Veterinary Sciences, Khanapara, Guwahati for its playground for holding such a convention in support of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 on November 17, 2018. Without even applying for permission for such a convention, how come the conglomerate of Bengali organizations makes the venue and date of the convention public? This, in fact, is a drama with the plan for a conflict.”

Hazarika said: “This has come to light when we approached the college authority for booking its ground for our ‘Sankalpa Somaroh’ slated for November 17, 2018. We’ve come to know that the college is going to hold its annual meeting on that day, and as such it can’t sphere the playground to any party on that day.”

Hazarika has said that the State Government is aware of the fact that no party has sought permission to the college authority for holding the convention in support of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, yet it has not let the irate people of the State know the futility of the hue and cry over the matter. “It is clear that the Government is a party to the conspiracy along with others to create a rift among the populace and move the people away from the real issue — illegal immigration. Such a discourse will only help the political parties for the upcoming elections and detrimental for the people,” he said.
