FROM A CORRESPONDENT
Golaghat, March 19: It is the weirdest instance of dysty politics.
Former MLA Jiten Gogoi, his wife Anima Gogoi and brother Rebokanta have all filed their nomitions papers from Bokakhat constituency. Anima Gogoi is contesting as an independent candidate under the banner of Bokakhat Nirman Got, while Rebokanta Gogoi also filed his nomition representing the newly-formed Trimul BJP.
However, election officials have rejected Jiten Gogoi's nomition as he is undergoing a ban by the Election Commission. Gogoi could not submit the details of expenditure he incurred while contesting the last parliamentary elections. The Election Commission had banned him from contesting any elections for three years.
The former MLA had filed an appeal in the court against the ban. But the matter is still pending and hence his nomition was rejected. AGP president Atul Bora is also contesting from Bokakhat.
