GUWAHATI, Sept 1: The NRC form submission process concluded successfully on Monday. A total 68.24 lakh households have submitted their application for inclusion into the tiol Register of Citizens (NRC), State NRC Coorditor Prateek Hajela informed The Sentinel on Tuesday. It may be mentioned that in the 2011 census there were around 64 lakh households in the State. Talking to The Sentinel Hajela said, “The entire process was completed peacefully. Though the origil last date for submission was July 31st, the Supreme Court extended it till August 31st and it contributed a lot towards peaceful completion of the process.” He further said that Lakhimpur district recorded the highest number of applications with 118% households filling up NRC forms, followed by Morigaon and lbari with 117% and 116% respectively. Dima Hasao district recorded the least with 93% households filling up NRC forms.
Hajela also added that the door to door verification process will start soon, and by the 1st part of November the draft NRC will be published. The fil NRC will be published on January 1, 2016.
