NRC online correction mode extended till February 28

* Offline process to end on January 31

STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI: The National Register of Citizens (NRC) authorities have extended the deadline for the online mode of name and error correction process till February 28. However, the last date for the offline mode remains the same i.e. January 31 – which was earlier the last date for the online mode as well. Meanwhile, the hearings on claims and objections would commence from February 15 onwards, stated an NRC source.

Any individual seeking to utilize the online mode would have to log on to www.nrcassam.nic.in and then click at the button at the top bar ‘NRC DRAFT CORRECTION PORTAL’. Next, the applicant would have to fill up his ARN (Application Receipt Number), legacy data code and his/her mobile number to register and carry on the processes as indicated thereafter on the website.

However if the applicants wish to go for the corrections manually (adopt the offline mode), then the concerned persons need to fill up the prescribed form within January 31. It would be possible by visiting the respective NRC sewa kendras where they had applied for inclusion in the Register.

The complete NRC was published on July 30, 2018.
