NRL despatches first batch of liquid nitrogen

Numaligarh, Feb 25: Adding value to its existing product portfolio, liquid nitrogen has been added to Numaligarh Refinery's product slate. The first tanker carrying Liquid Nitrogen (LN) of 99.95% purity was despatched last week from NRL's Marketing Termil at Numaligarh to the premises of Assam Livestock Development Agency (ALDA) Guwahati, a State government undertaking.  Liquid nitrogen sourced from NRL would be used by ALDA for storing and transporting high yielding cattle semen for artificial insemition of local cattle. This would in turn produce high milk yielding cattle, providing a boost to the agricultural and animal husbandry sector of the State, the refinery said in a statement. Liquid nitrogen has wide industrial applications - viz in refrigeration industry, refineries, oil exploration etc.
