Bongaigaon, May 24: In a joint operation, Chirang district police and Indian Army bbed one NDFB (S) rebel on Tuesday morning.
The bbed cadre has been identified as Saneswar Brahma, son of Tepa Brahma, a resident of Longthajhar area under Panbari PS of Chirang district. He was bbed from Hauliyapara area under Panbari PS of Chirang district.
Sankarbrata Rai Medhi, SP of Chirang, said that one 7.65 mm pistol with three rounds live ammunition was recovered from him. “Actually we launched two operations today. One in Panbari and the other in Dhaligaon Bazar at about 10.30 am which led to the apprehension of one NDFB(S) linkman med Hebol Basumatary (36), son of ren Basumatary, a resident of Besorbari area under Amguri PS of Chirang district. One Passion bike bearing registration no AS-26-5553 and Rs 20,000 was seized from his possession. Upon prelimiry interrogation it has been learnt that the money was collected through extortion and the linkman was given the job of sending the money to Myanmar-based leaders,” the SP said.
