Permits of 117 buses, trekkers in city suspended

Guwahati, Sept 16: The Kamrup metropolitan administration today suspended the permits of 67 city buses and 50 trekkers for a month.

These vehicles were found to be violating various regulations. In special drives launched over the last few days in the city, the administration had seized over 150 erring buses and trekkers.

"The seized vehicles will be handed over to the owners tomorrow, but they will not be able to operate for a month. They will have to rectify the faults and get a fitness certificate from the DTO in presence of a magistrate. Only after that they will be allowed to ply," said an official of the administration.

During the crackdown, the administration had detected several buses and trekkers plying without valid documents. Some were plying on routes not desigted to them. Many vehicles were not found to be fit to ply.
