DIGBOI August 14: The two victims of the terror attack by suspected ULFA militants recently at Philobari in Tinsukia district of upper Assam, were cremated here on Sunday at a nearby Hindu cremation ground as per Hindu rites. The deceased were father and son Kishori Shah and Rajesh Shah

Earlier during the morning, the disgruntled local people of the village sought redressal of their grievances once again and termed the inhuman act of killing the Hindi-speaking community people as barbaric and heinous, beside demanding of the Assam Government for a permanent solution to this effect and ensure stable security mechanism in the terror-hit rural pockets of the area.

Meanwhile, to mark their protest against the killing of the two innocent people of a family and lambasting the failure on the part of the government, the people of the affected area, including Philobari, decided to observe the Independence Day by fasting for the whole day.

Talking to The Sentinel, the SP Tinsukia, Mugdhajyoti Mahanta, however, repudiated the security lapses and said that all security mechanism had been deployed in the entire belt effectively, besides intensifying militant hunt operation across the vulnerable locations of the district to thwart the subversive intentions of the ultras. “Cooperation of the people is of great assistance to us to realize the end without any loss of man and material,” said Mahanta.

However, available government resources have been fully diverted, traps have been laid effectively, regular MCP, NCP have been conducted to b the anti-social elements and avert further bloodshed and mark the celebration of I-Day without any violence and disturbances.
