GUWAHATI, March 13: The Bureau of Investigation of Economic Offences (BIEO) arrested four Punjab tiol Bank (PNB) officials who had been grilled by it on Monday. The four were sent to two-day BIEO remand by the CJM Court where they were produced later in the day.
The arrested officials are AGM Dhirendra Kumar Choudhury, Chief Mager Anil Tiwari, Credit Mager Bharat Singh and accountant Pranjit Bhuyan. All the four were working at the Zoo Road branch of the bank in the city.
The BIEO had recently arrested five persons in connection with a case against taking loans from the bank branch through fraudulent means. Earlier, BIEO had arrested Phanidhar Talukdar (builder M/s Sky Scrappers Real Estate Pvt Ltd), Banwarilal Pareek (borrower from PNB), besides three of Talukdar's employees – Amarendra Kalita, Saroj Sarma, and Sailen Roy. They are now in jail.
