Poachers kill another rhino in Kaziranga

Guwahati, April 10: Poachers killed another rhino in Kaziranga tiol Park – the eight this year – and took away its horn.

Forest guards heard gunshots at around 1.30 am and launched a search in the Tinmukhni area of central range of the park.

They found the carcass of a female adult rhino. “The poachers chopped off the horn and ears and took those away,” sources said.

The forest guards seized three empty cartridges of .303 rifle from the spot and a sharp weapon. An extensive search operation has been launched to b the poachers.

Meanwhile, Jakhalabandha police in gaon district bbed three poachers and recovered a .303 rifle from them. The poachers were identified as ushad Ali, Azhar Ali and Sabir Hussain. Police said they confessed to have killed a rhino in the Sixth Addition of the park in December last year.
