Postal ballot for willing militants in Assam

Our Bureau
Guwahati, April 3: The Election Commission has arranged postal ballot facility for members of militant groups which are in peace talks with the government to cast their votes in the assembly election. Postal ballot facility at the desigted camps was arranged for these militants in the previous elections as well. Such provision is being made mostly in the Bodoland Territorial Autonomous Districts (BTAD). Members of NDFB(P), which is in peace negotiations with the government, had availed of this facility in previous elections. However, other major militant groups, including the ULFA, had decided to stay away from the election process altogether. ULFA pro-talks leaders said the outfit has taken a resolution not to participate in the election process or cast votes.
