Pramila stages walkout

'Junglee' remark against Hagrama

BY OUR STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Feb 2: Taking serious issue with Minister Chandan Sarkar’s recent comment about BPF leader Hagrama Mohilary as ‘junglee’, BPF MLA Pramila Rani Brahma on Tuesday staged an angry walkout from the Assembly, protesting  the ‘insult to the Bodo community’. Raising the issue in the House, Brahma said, “How did a minister dare to use such a word against our leader? We want justice.” She broke down as she spoke of Bodo people being deprived of their rights outside and inside the House. “We are not allowed to raise our issues in the House. When we were with the Congress, everything was fine. But now things have changed,” saying thus, the BPF MLA walked out of the House. Later, speaking in the House, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi said, “No one is a junglee. We have given equal rights to all. It was I who stressed on creation of BTAD for development of the Bodo community.”
