President to iugurate Northeast festival

New Delhi, April 7: President Prab Mukherjee will on April 11 iugurate the northeast festival ‘Songs and Dances of Northeast’ showcasing the rich cultural ethnicity and diversity of the region, an official here said on Tuesday. The festival, intending to “enhance the multi-ethnic character of the country’s capital and dispel impressions that it was hostile to outsiders, particularly people from the northeast”, is an initiative by the Meghalaya government and the North Eastern Council.
