Protest brewing against B’deshi forgers, land-grabbers

Guwahati, Dec 3: Thousands of people are expected to participate in a march from Sipajhar to Mangaldai on December 5, pressing for a CBI inquiry into the racket through which Bangladeshi tiols get citizenship certificates in the State.

Senior advocate and convenor of the Prabrajan Birodhi Mancha Upamanyu Hazarika said besides his organization, the Darrang Sangrami Satirtha Sanmilan and Dakhin Pachim Goal Santha will lead in the rally victims whose lands have been grabbed by suspected illegal migrants.

The organizations will later submit a memorandum to the President, Prime Minister and Home Minister through the deputy commissioner of Darrang district.

"Our key demands are identification and deportation of Bangladeshi tiols. No one who has entered after 1971 should be given citizenship status. The Assam Accord should be implemented in toto and the land encroached by suspected migrants should be cleared immediately," Hazarika said.

The organizations are also demanding constitutiol safeguard for the indigenous people. "The people who have their mes in 1951 should transfer their land only to their progenies. We also demand 100 per cent reservation in jobs for the indigenous," he added.
