Rebel MLAs slapped showcause notices by Speaker

GUWAHATI, Dec 2: Speaker Prab Kumar Gogoi on Wednesday issued show-cause notices to the nine rebel Congress MLAs who had joined the BJP recently, a day after the Congress filed a complaint seeking disqualification proceedings against them. The nine legislators were given separate notices. Copies of the notices were sent to the MLA Hostel quarters and constituency residences of the legislators. They have been given seven days time to respond. Yesterday, the Speaker had said the complaint, lodged by Congress chief whip Nilamonisen Deka, will be disposed off "as soon as possible." "I won't allow any party to take undue advantage," he had said.
