Reduce your cost as much as possible, Sonowal tells ministers, legislators

GUWAHATI, May 26: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal has urged his ministerial colleagues and BJP legislators to reduce their persol expenses, especially in terms of the use of vehicles in their convoy.

Sonowal said this while addressing the first meeting of the council of ministers, party legislators and Assam BJP office-bearers here today.

He called upon his ministerial colleagues to work wholeheartedly and with all sincerity for the welfare of the people.

“As people have reposed full faith and confidence upon us and gave a massive mandate in favour of the new Government to usher in change, we have to work unitedly for the development of the state,” he told reporters after the meeting.   

“We will have to work with utmost sincerity, so that people don’t suffer for our activities,” Sonowal added.  

He urged his ministerial colleagues and party legislators to utilise their time to the optimum level for the all-round development of the State. The Chief Minister asked them to strike a close rapport with the people and to listen to their woes and redress their grievances.

Sources said BJP tiol secretary Ram Madhab, who was also present in the meeting, asked the new ministers to work responsibly.  

He asked them to maintain transparency in their works.

Sources said the ministers present in the meeting assured that they would not do anything which can tarnish the image of the government.

A section of ministers, sources said, also expressed willingness in the meeting to avoid using red beacon in their vehicles.

“We will not do any work which can hurt the sentiment of the people of the said,” BJP legislator Padma Hazarika.
