Renting out your house, engaging domestic help? You’ve obligations too!

The Assam Police is desirous of people renting out their houses/flats/rooms and those employing people for doing domestic chores (as domestic helps) to own certain obligations that can help the police get information about their tenants/domestic helps instantly as and when needed. The police administration in the State has imposed such obligations for house/flat owners renting out their property and people employing domestic helps in the interest of law and order in the State, or for the sake of safety in the locality concerned.

The State police administration is once again appealing to every house/flat owner renting out his/her house/flat/room and people employing domestic helps to keep their respective local police stations well informed of particulars of their tenants/domestic helps. Every law-abiding house/flat owner or people engaging domestic help is required to provide detailed particulars of his/her tenants/domestic helps to their local police stations stating where they have come from (their permanent addresses), their nationalities, professions etc along with their photographs before renting out their houses or engaging them as domestic helps.

Such a practice helps the police administration verify the tenants/domestic helps at ease as and when the need arises.

From time to time, the State police administration keeps reminding house/flat owners and people engaging domestic helps of this appeal through the local citizens’ committees.

The Assam Police has also launched an e-service so as to make citizens accessible to the internet to avail of the services available without visiting any police stations.-
