Rumi th's former PSO, husband detained

Guwahati, April 7: Borkhola MLA Rumi th’s estranged husband Jakie Jakir and her former PSO was today detained by police in connection with the investigations into the car lifting racket, busted after the arrest of notorious car lifter Anil Chouhan.

As controversy razed over th’s connection with the car lifter, the crime branch of Guwahati police detained Jakie from Badarpur in Karimganj and he is being brought to the city for questioning.

The legislator’s PSO Dobokanta Borpatragohain is also being interrogated at the Special Branch headquarters here.

“We have stumbled upon some leads during the investigation. Jakie and the PSO have been detained for questioning,” said a senior police official.

It is reported that a BMW car seized during the investigations was gifted by th to Jakie. Police suspect the car was a stolen by Anil Chouhan from Mumbai and its colour and registration number changed in Assam. Meanwhile, during the search at his residence, police have found 17 bank accounts of Anil Chouhan. All the accounts are being verified.  On the revelations that Rumi th had recommended assembly passes for Chouhan’s vehicle, Guwahati police commissioner Jyotirmoy Chakravarty said police have sought necessary documents from the assembly secretariat.
