SC refuses to entertain Matang Sinh's bail plea

New Delhi, June 6: The Supreme Court on Monday declined to entertain a plea for bail by former union minister Matang Sinh - an accused in Saradha chit fund scam - so that he could go for treatment of his liver that was transplanted in 2004 and has now developed complications. The vacation bench of Justice Piki Chandra Ghose and Justice Amitava Roy refused to interfere with the matter already pending before the Calcutta High Court, and told senior counsel Amit Sibal, appearing for Matang Sinh, that he could move the high court.
