New Delhi, Nov 14: The demand for a separate Bodoland state on Saturday rocked the tiol capital.

Waving placards, thousands of supporters staged a four-hour dhar at Jantar Mantar, demanding creation of a separate Bodoland state.

Saturday's dhar was organized by the tiol Federation for New States (NFNS). The NFNS is a conglomeration of eight mass-based organisations fighting for the creation of separate states.

"We support the demand for a separate Bodoland. In fact, we demand creation of smaller states to fulfill aspirations of the people," said NFNS president Raja Bundella.

The NFNS will also submit a memorandum to President Prab Mukherjee, Prime Minister rendra Modi and Home Minister Rajth Singh in support of their demands.

"We did not have any other choice but to hit the streets once again with renewed vigour and conviction to see that the struggle reaches a logical conclusion. There are a number of long standing demands for creation of new states across India such as Bodoland, Bundelkhand, Dimaraji, Gorkhaland, Kukiland, Karbi State, Twipraland, Vidarbha etc," said ABSU president Pramod Boro.
