GUWAHATI, Oct 18: BJP would be fielding candidates in all the 126 constituencies of the State in the Assam assembly elections scheduled next year. Speaking to the media, on the sidelines of a program in Guwahati, Union minister Sarbanda Sonowal revealed this on Sunday.

“The BJP is getting stronger day by day. We will field candidates in all 126 constituencies of the State. However, before fielding candidates, we will take all the organizations and ethnic groups into consideration,” Sonowal said.

Slamming the Congress government in the State, Sonowal said, “The people of Assam and the Assamese community are not safe in the hands of the Congress. In the coming days, in order to safeguard the people of the State and their identity while balancing development, BJP will have to come to power. We hope in order to bring a change, the people will accept the BJP.”

“No matter how hard the Congress tries, they have been voted out by the people from their heart,” Sonowal said.

On the other hand, APCC president Anjan Dutta, who was also present in the function said, “Let them say whatever they want to. At the end, it is the Congress that will come to power in Assam.”
