Several NDFB (S) rebels in security net

GUWAHATI, January 19: In a major blow to the NDFB (S) group, eleven of its cadres were apprehended in the Panbari forest area of Chirang district in a joint operation by the troops of the Red Horn Division. The operation was carried out based on intelligence inputs.

A large quantity of arms and ammunition, including two pistols, two improvised explosive devices and nine detotors, were recovered from the cadres.

During the operation, top cadres like Deven Goyari, an IED expert, Raton Bengali and Parkash rzari alias Gahen, a locally trained cadre, were apprehended.

In another joint operation, troops of Red Horn Division bbed self–styled sergeant Bimal Boro alias Khwobla, platoon commander of the NDFB (S), at Antaibari in Baksa district.

In a joint operation in Karbi Anglng district on Monday, the Army and the police apprehended eight suspected KLPF cadres at Gandhipur in the early hours. A huge quantity of arms and ammunition were also recovered from their possession. These include three pistols, several gredes and ammunition.

Five hardcore NDFB (S) cadres were also arrested along with one AK–56 rifle with magazine, one foreign made 9mm pistol with holster, twenty five 7.62mm live rounds, 54 9mm live rounds and one hand grede in a forested area along the Assam–galand border in Udalguri district. One of the arrested cadres was a self–styled commanding officer of the thirteen battalion of the NDFB (S).

Another hardcore NDFB (S) terrorist was apprehended in the city. Police sources said that he came to the city for carrying out disruptive activities on the Republic Day.
