Showcause to Siraj Uddin, Ardhendu

Hojai, March 16: The District Election Officer of Hojai has issued show-cause notices to AIUDF MP Siraj Uddin Ajmal and Congress candidate Dr. Ardhendu Kumar Dey for allegedly violating model code of conduct. Media reports had stated that Barpeta MP Siraj Uddin Ajmal had incited the workers of AIUDF at Jammumukh to violence, luring them to "poll-violence" insurance of Rs 5 lakh and Rs 3 lakh. Dr. Ardhendu Dey is being accused of distributing  Rs  500 denomition currency notes among people of the Nepali community at a village near Lanka. Taking cognizance of the reports, the District Election Officer today issued the notices.
