Sincerity is the key: Arts topper

Lakhimpur, May 30: An avid fan of novelists JK Rowling and Rita Choudhury, first rank holder in the higher secondary Arts stream examition Gunjan Dutta says there is no altertive to sincerity to achieve success.

Son of Jagat Chandra Dutta, a retired deputy director of the archaeology department of Aruchal Pradesh and Bijoya Dutta, head of the political science department of Dhakuakho College, Gunjan aspires to become an administrative officer.

A student of Glorious Academy at Khelmati in Lakhimpur, Gunjan scored 473 out of 500 (English 91, Assamese 91, Anthropology 95, Education 97, Political Science 99 and Economics 80 ).

“I had thought I would be in the top ten, but I never thought I would top…I used to study six to seven hours regularly and on holidays it would go up to 15 hours,” he said, crediting his school environment besides the guidance from his parents, friends and teachers for his success.

Gunjan had scored 83 per cent in his HSLC examitions.

He wishes to pursue his graduation in political science at Delhi University.

Representatives from the North Lakhimpur Regiol Students Union visited Gunjan’s residence and felicitated him for bringing laurels to the district.
