KOKRAJHAR, Aug 6: The parents of I. Mwdan alias Manjay Islary, the area commander of the NDFB’s anti-talk faction who was gunned down on Friday during the bloodbath at Balajan Tiniali market in Kokrajhar, on Saturday refused to accept the dead militant as their son.

The lone militant killed on Friday was identified as I. Mwdan alias Manjay Islary of No. 2 Pakriguri, Jairi under Kokrajhar police station. The parents of Mwdan were brought to Kokrajhar for identification of their son, but both father and mother failed to identify the body. They admitted their son went missing many years ago and they had come to know later that he had joined the NDFB. But the body, as per their assumption, was not their son’s. They said their son had a burn mark on his chest, but they did not see the mark on the body. They also said the eyes were not recognizable due to bullet injury. Mwdan’s parents refused to take the body home.

Meanwhile, the wife of Mwdan’s younger brother said before reporters that he had left home 15 years ago and was reported to have joined the NDFB. She said they had seen him just twice since he went missing. She also said it would be difficult to recognize him now after such a long gap.
